Description
Scopoderm contains the active substance scopolamine (hyoscine), which belongs to a group of medicines called anti-emetics or anti-nauseants. Scopoderm is used for the prevention of symptoms of motion sickness, such as nausea (feeling sick), vomiting (being sick) and vertigo (loss of balance), which can occur when traveling by boat, plane, train or car. DOSAGE: (Adults and children over 10 years): Apply one patch every 3 days. After the patch has been applied or removed, wash hands thoroughly.SEE PACKAGE LEAFLET FOR FULL INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE AND WARNINGS DO NOT USE: If you are allergic to Scopolamine (hyoscine)If you have Glaucoma PRECAUTIONS: Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using Scopoderm if you:are suffering from pyloric stenosis (a condition which affects your stomach)have difficulties when passing urine (e.g due to enlargement of the prostate)have intestinal obstruction (partial or complete blockage of the small intestine)are an elderly patient or have any metabolic, liver or kidney diseasehave or have had pain in the eyes, blurred vision, or see rainbow-coloured halos around lights (Scopoderm should only be used after an eye examination by a doctor)have or have had epilepsy or epileptic seizures (increase number of fits have been reported).Under these circumstances, Scopoderm may be unsuitable for you.In rare cases, confusion and/or visual hallucinations may occur. Should this happen, remove Scopoderm at once and notify a doctor.Take care after removing the patch , as side-effects may persist for up to 24 hours or longer. Remove patch before medical scans.Use in Children: Do not give Scopoderm to a child younger than 10 years old because there is insufficient information of its use in children.Use in Elderly: Scopoderm can be used in the elderly although they mnay be more prone to suffer from side effects. Taking other Medicines:Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken or want to start taking any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription. In particular, tell your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines, because Scopoderm may interact with them:alcoholother drugs acting on brainantiallergic medicinesantidepressantsantiparkinsons and antiviralsantiarrythmicsother travel sickness medicinesUsing Scopoderm with alcohol Avoid drinking alcohol while using ScopodermPregnancy, breastfeeding and fertility If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you might be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.Driving and using machinesScopoderm can have side effects such as feeling drowsy, confused, dizzy, or may affect your vision. Do not drive, operate machinery or perform any activity that requires concentration while under treatment with Scopoderm. INGREDIENTS: Each patch contains 1.5mg Scopolamine (hyoscine). Average absorption rate 1mg/72 hours.
