Duro-Tuss Chesty Cough Liquid Forte is formulated to reduce chesty mucous cough symptoms. It's double action breaks down and liquefies mucus to help expel mucus from the chest. It is suitable for diabetics as it is sugar free. It is also Alcohol free, Lactose free and Gluten free. It does not suppress coughing, which would inhibit the expulsion of mucus; however, as coughing becomes more productive due to the medication's expectorant properties, coughs are generally less frequent and less violent. The product is free of sugar, lactose and gluten, suitable for diabetics or those with sensitivities to milk products and grains. Each bottle of Duro-Tuss Chesty Cough Liquid Forte includes a measuring cup for precise dosing. Treatment is simple, and similar to most other chest congestion or expectorant medications: Ages 12 and up take 10 ml every 4 to 6 hours as needed. Ages 6 to 11 may be given 5 ml every 4 to 6 hours as needed. Avoid use in patients under 6 years of age. Do not exceed 4 doses in 24 hours. Many patients notice some relief from chest congestion within 30 minutes of taking the first dose, as mucus is thinned and airways become less clogged. Productive coughing will further clear airways, and coughing spells will begin to diminish as mucus is expelled more efficiently. If symptoms do not improve significantly after several days of use or worsen at any time during treatment a doctor should be consulted, particularly for young children. Before Using Duro-Tuss Chesty Cough Liquid Forte Individuals who are pregnant or breastfeeding, who have a history of liver or kidney problems, or who have a history of stomach ulcers may be at greater risk of serious side effects than others. Check with a doctor about potential risks before use. In otherwise healthy patients ages 6 and up, side effects are unusual and typically mild, including: Nausea Vomiting Diarrhea Constipation Indigestion Headache Dizziness The above symptoms are generally not cause for concern unless severe or persistent. Note that this product contains sorbitol, which can act as a laxative and cause diarrhea in some people. This is especially likely if other products containing sorbitol have caused diarrhea in an individual previously. Avoid using similar products, such as other chest congestion medications, cold or flu treatments, cough suppressants and so forth while taking Duro-Tuss Chesty Cough Liquid Forte. If taking prescription medications, check with a doctor or pharmacist about potential drug interactions before starting treatment.
