The mild but pleasantly-flavored syrup is suitable for use in all ages. Because respiratory ailments can quickly become severe in very young patients, however, it is advisable to have any children under 2 seen by a doctor first. The syrup should not be used while pregnant or breastfeeding without first discussing potential risks with a doctor. Proven by the Test of Time The healing properties of ivy leaf have been known at least since the time of ancient Greece, where the plant was a favored remedy of Hippocrates. Clinicians Prospan Bronchial Syrup hasn't been around quite that long, but it does have a 20 year history of safely and effectively treating respiratory ailments around the world. While ivy leaf can be prepared in many ways and provides benefits all over the body, it is particularly useful in combating ailments of the respiratory system, where it: Relaxes airways Improves respiratory function Thins mucous Alleviates coughing Reduces inflammation Lubricates membranes Inhibits bacterial and viral activity Not only does the extract alleviate the symptoms of respiratory ailments, it aids the immune system in combating the microbes causing the symptoms in the first place. Clinicians Prospan Bronchial Syrup provides relief quickly and without the drowsiness, dizziness, confusion and similar side effects associated with most modern cough syrups. Ivy leaf's function as an anti-inflammatory agent and bronchial system relaxant also alleviates symptoms of chronic conditions like asthma, COPD and bronchitis when these conditions are being particularly troublesome. Note, however, that the safety of using Clinicians Prospan Bronchial Syrup for more than 30 consecutive days has not been established. Clinicians Prospan Bronchial Syrup can be used on its own or to complement other medications, vitamins or supplements. Directions for Use Clinicians Prospan Bronchial Syrup can be used at any point when throat or airway irritation is present. Each bottle includes a measuring cup. Dosage depends on age: Patients 12 years old and up – take 5 ml 3 times per day. Patients 6 to 11 years – take 5 ml 2 times per day. Patients 2 to 5 years – take 2.5 ml 2 times per day. Patients under 2 years – take 2.5 ml 2 times per day after doctor approval. Treatment should continue for 2 or 3 days after all symptoms are gone, to ensure the condition is completely cleared up. Note that the syrup will begin to lose potency around three months after being opened, and should be replaced. If used as directed side effects are vanishingly rare. A very small percentage of patients may experience mild gastrointestinal upset, including nausea, cramps, gas and so forth. Less than 1 in 10,000 individuals are allergic to ivy leaf, but allergic reactions do happen on occasion. Symptoms include swelling of the throat, tongue, lips or face, redness, severe itching, rash or hives, difficulty breathing and confusion.
